Manufacturing & production
From wire preparation to finished screws.
Manufacturing
From wire preparation to forming, finishing and packing, the production route follows the selected screw specification. The equipment types below are recorded in our company literature; the operations required and their in-house or partner arrangements are confirmed for the product.
The production route

Wire preparation

Wire preparation brings together drawing, annealing and phosphating where specified. Material and wire dimensions are selected for the product, with incoming checks supporting the subsequent forming operations.

Head, point and thread forming

Cold heading forms the screw blank and head. Point forming or cutting and thread rolling complete the required configuration, with the route selected for the screw design.

Dimensional inspection

Dimensions are checked during production and through detailed measurement of selected features. Head, thread and drilling-point geometry are compared with the applicable drawing or agreed product requirements.

Heat treatment and performance checks

The specified heat-treatment route is followed by relevant hardness and performance checks. Drilling, torque, tensile or shear testing is selected according to the screw and its test requirements.

Surface finishing and corrosion checks

The agreed plating or coating is selected for the screw and intended environment. Corrosion testing uses a defined method, sample and assessment criteria to support the relevant product documentation.

Assembly, records and packing

Washer assembly is included where the product requires it. Inspection records, pack quantities, labels and carton details are reviewed against the agreed order before the products are prepared for dispatch.
Production equipment
Wire drawing machine
Draws wire to the required diameter before forming. Wire size and preparation are selected for the screw specification.
Wire annealing furnace
Supports wire preparation before forming. The annealing route depends on the material and the requirements of the selected screw.
Phosphating machine
Supports the wire-preparation stage where phosphating is specified. This process is distinct from selecting a finished screw coating.
Cold heading machine
Forms the screw blank and head using tooling for the required configuration. Head dimensions are checked during production.
Tip forming machine
Forms the tip geometry for the selected screw. Point design is considered together with the head, thread and intended connection.
Thread rolling machine
Forms the external screw thread. The thread configuration follows the required product drawing or agreed sample.
Type 17 tip cutting machine
Cuts the Type 17 point configuration for the relevant screw. The point and thread details should be identified in the product specification.
Heat treatment equipment
Supports the treatment route specified for the screw material. Hardness and relevant performance checks follow the agreed product requirements.
Electroplating line
Supports electroplated finishes for relevant products. Finish requirements are agreed with the screw specification and intended service environment.
Washer assembly machine
Supports washer assembly for the relevant screw configuration. Washer material, dimensions and assembly requirements are agreed for the order.
Automatic packaging machine
Supports packing operations for suitable products and pack formats. Pack quantities, labels and carton details are confirmed for the order.
Pre-processing machine
Supports steel-wire preparation before screw forming. The operation sequence is selected to suit the wire material and screw specification.
Steel wire handling machine
Supports handling of wire within the production route. Wire preparation and the forming requirements are considered together.
Drilling machine
Point-making equipment supports the relevant drilling-point configuration. The required tip geometry and associated tooling depend on the screw design.
Cutter machine
Supports cutting operations within the production route. The required cut and its relationship to the screw configuration are reviewed for the selected product.
Surface coating system
Supports the specified surface-finishing stage. The coating route and who performs each operation are confirmed for the selected product.
